Introduction
Microtrip Go Pty Ltd (referred to as “Microtrip Go”, “we”, “us”) operates microtripgo.com and related weekend routing services for customers in Australia. We are committed to protecting personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and how you can exercise your rights. If you engage us to plan or book travel, additional terms may apply in your booking confirmation.
Information we collect
We collect information that is reasonably necessary to provide microtrip routing, quotes, and partner introductions. This typically includes your name, email address, phone number, preferred regions, travel dates, group composition, budget band, accessibility notes you choose to share, and messages you send through forms or chat.
When you pay a deposit or invoice through our payment provider, we receive confirmation references rather than full card numbers. Our hosting and analytics tools may log technical data such as IP address, browser type, device category, approximate location derived from IP, and pages visited. We do not use precise GPS from your device unless a feature explicitly asks for it and you consent.
How we use information
We use personal information to prepare route packs, coordinate with accommodation and experience partners, respond to enquiries, send service-related emails (for example booking status), improve site performance, detect fraud or abuse, and meet Australian record-keeping and tax obligations.
Where we send marketing communications, we rely on your consent or, where permitted, on an existing customer relationship and always provide a clear unsubscribe path.
Data sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose limited details to third parties who help us deliver the service, including payment processors, email delivery platforms, cloud hosting within Australia or comparable jurisdictions, and partner operators you have asked us to contact on your behalf.
Those parties are contractually required to use data only for the purpose we disclose it and to maintain appropriate safeguards. If we are compelled by law to disclose information, we will do so only to the extent required.
Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep the site secure, remember preferences, and measure aggregate traffic. Essential cookies are always on; analytics and marketing cookies are optional. See our Cookie Policy for categories, retention, and how to change your choices.
Retention
We retain booking and financial records for at least seven years to satisfy Australian Taxation Office and consumer law expectations. Marketing contact lists are refreshed regularly and you may request deletion of your marketing profile at any time, subject to any outstanding booking.
When retention periods end, we delete or de-identify records using secure destruction methods appropriate to the medium.
Your rights
Under the APPs you may request access to the personal information we hold about you and ask for corrections if it is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant, or misleading. We will respond within a reasonable period, usually thirty days, and may need to verify your identity before releasing information.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
Children
Our services are designed for adults planning family travel. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under thirteen for marketing. Where a booking includes minors, the parent or guardian should provide their contact details as the account holder.
Third-party links
Our website may link to partner or government sites (for example national parks or tourism boards). Those sites have their own privacy policies and we are not responsible for their practices. Please review their notices before submitting personal data.
Privacy contact
For privacy questions or requests, email privacy@microtripgo.com or write to the Privacy Officer, Suite 204, Chadstone Shopping Centre, 1341 Dandenong Road, Chadstone VIC 3148, Australia. Include enough detail for us to locate your records without over-sharing sensitive identifiers in email.
